HULL 4NCL International: Congress Venue
We're indebted to the John Robinson Youth Chess
Trust for their financial support on the junior
side, and to Hull & District Chess Association,
Hull Culture & Leisure, Friends of Chess and the
ECF for their financial support for the
GM norm
tournament.
The
Royal Hotel Hull is where Hull and District
Chess Association hold many of their larger
events. It has the benefit of being right at the
railway and bus station and central to Hull City
Centre with its shops, restaurant and bars.
Hull’s lively Marina with its bars and
restaurants is just five minutes’ walk, as are
Hull’s Ferens Art Gallery and Maritime Museum
(both free). Hull’s famous Museums Quarter is
just a 10/15 minutes’ walk.
All the rooms we are using for the congress
are extremely well appointed and quiet with
plenty of natural light, and chandelier lit.
The
congress is being played in the Royal Suite, a
large room well over 300 square metres in size
which accommodates 150 players (this is where
the rapidplay took place at the British
Championships in 2018.
If we
need more space we will use the Elizabethan
Suite across the foyer, which can cater for a
further 80/90 players.
The
bookstall will be situated in the Minster Suite,
adjacent to, but separated from, the main
playing area.
There
will be a separate analysis room, the Prince of
Wales Suite, which is also where the ‘meet the
masters’ reception is being held on the Saturday
night. (and where the women's reception was held
at the British this year).
All the playing rooms lead off the main
foyer, which is where the hotel restaurant
and bar are also situated, both with
plentiful seating.
The GM norm event will be played in the Windsor
Suite on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and then
in the main playing area in the Royal Suite on
the Saturday and Sunday.
The picture on the right shows a simultaneous
against Gawain Jones in the Windsor Suite.

for players who book accommodation
with the hotel on a first come first
served basis. anyone eligible for
