FIDE Rapidplay: Open to all players

1st £600; 2nd £300; 3rd £150; 4th £75

Plus three best performance prizes of £100 each for ratings <= 1600, 1601-1900, 1901-2200.

Entry fee: £35 (£30 for ECF Silver, Gold or Platinum members).

FIDE Blitz: Open to all players

1st £300; 2nd £150; 3rd £75; 4th £40

Plus three best performance prizes of £50 each for ratings <= 1600, 1601-1900, 1901-2200

Entry fee: £20.

Both Events

£200 prize for the player with the most points in the Rapidplay and Blitz combined

Entry fee@ £45 (£40 for ECF Silver or Platinum members).

Discounts: GMs / IMs free, FMs and female players half price. GMs please contact Mike Truran for other conditions.

Late Entries: Entries may be accepted on the day subject to availability and payment of a £10 surcharge.

Playing Schedules:

Two ½ point byes may be taken in rounds 1 – 9.

Players will play each other twice (once with each colour) in each round. Byes may be requested on the day (not in advance).

Time Controls

Rapidplay: All moves in 25 minutes plus 10 second increment per move from move 1.

Blitz: All moves in 3 minutes plus 2 second increment per move from move 1.

There will no re-pairings should players fail to appear.

Players who fail to appear will be defaulted as soon as their time runs out.

Grades and Ratings

For the purposes of Swiss pairing, ratings will be based on the following (in order of priority):

“National” lists above are those published in July 2015. “FIDE” lists above are those published in August 2015.

The Rapidplay will be both FIDE rated and ECF graded. The Blitz will be FIDE rated.

ECF grades will be converted to FIDE equivalent ratings using the formula FIDE = (ECF*7.5) + 700.

Players without any of the above must give details of estimated playing strength, including any previously held grading, or current grading from another body.

Notices

English players must be ECF Silver or above members in the FIDE Rapidplay. There is no ECF membership requirement in the FIDE Blitz. There is a £5 discount for ECF Silver or above members for players in the FIDE Rapidplay (but not the FIDE Blitz).

Prizes may be changed subject to numbers of entries.

All pairings will be made using FIDE Swiss pairing rules using Swiss Manager.

The submission of an entry form and payment of the entry fee denotes acceptance that the 4NCL’s decision is final in all matters.

The 4NCL reserves the right to refuse any entry without explanation.

Accommodation

The following rates have been negotiated with Park Inn Birmingham West:

£32.50 BB per person per night (based on two sharing)

£55.00 BB per person per night (single occupancy)

£47.50 DBB per person per night (based on two people sharing)

£70.00 DBB per person per night (single occupancy)
