The Four Nations Chess League does not accept responsibility for the content of other websites, to which this site links.

This website includes information on participants in the Four Nations Chess League in respect of name, grade, title, nationality and sex (team registration lists), as well as telephone number(s), email address(es) and postal address(es) in certain circumstances (team captains/managers, management board members, arbiters etc). Participants wishing this information not to be included on the website should contact the webmaster to have it removed, but should be aware that in this event they will not be permitted to play in the league.
European Club Cup

The European Club Cup will start on Sunday 28 September in Rethymnon, Crete. It is a seven round Swiss between around 50 teams, with many of the world`s elite in action. This time Gary Kasparov will play on board one for Kazan, though all indications are that NAO Paris, who led until the last round last year and who now have Michael Adams listed as board three and a 2640 player as their first reserve, must start as favourites.

The website for the event is www.venizelia.gr/ecc2003.

This is the second year in which Barbican 4NCL is competing in this competition, and this year it is solely responsible for flying the English flag (though teams from Wales and Ireland are again competing). Barbican 4NCL will again be headed by GM Jonathan Parker who this time will be supported by no less than three first team regulars and two other occasional first team players: IM Brian Kelly, IM Richard Palliser, IM Mark Ferguson, Steve Dishman and John Cox. Peter Taylor and Andrew Mack (team captain), both of whom have taken GM scalps themselves, are our two reserves. We are delighted to be able to send such a representative team, and hope this year to prove ourselves the strongest Club of our type in Europe by finishing in the top half of the field.

Jonathan Rogers
President of Barbican 4NCL Chess Club

Barbican 4NCL's participation in this competition is supported by the Friends of Chess.
