Record breaking season wins continued Chess sponsorship for Guildford-ADC

Guildford-ADC rewarded their sponsors A&DC, the Surrey-based Human Resources consultancy, with two records, when Guildford-ADC 1 became the first team to win the 4NCL with 100% scoring 11 out of 11 and Guildford-ADC 2 ensured an unprecedented top two finish, scoring 10 out of 11.

Nigel Povah, Guildford’s team captain and founder of A&DC, said: “It was a fantastic achievement to go though the whole season without losing a match and much of our success is due to the commitment and team spirit shown by all of our players”.

Guildford-ADC achieved their success by fielding a consistently strong squad throughout the season, featuring 13 Grandmasters on the last weekend, which included current British Champion Jonathan Rowson, former World U18 Champion Nick Pert and Britain’s youngest Grandmaster, 16-year old David Howell.

Povah, an Occupational Psychologist and a leading expert in the Assessment and Development field confirmed that A&DC will be continuing its sponsorship next season, saying: “There is a strong link between the strategic nature of Chess and the work A&DC undertakes with its blue-chip client base, by using tactical approaches to achieve strategic goals and deliver results.”

A&DC are specialist consultants in business psychology and behavioural change working at all organisational levels to discover, transform and energise talent. Operating throughout the UK, they have global reach through a network of hand-picked international partners. For further information on A&DC or Guildford-ADC Chess team, contact Nigel Povah on 01483 860898.
