Hotel information

Team captains / managers should note that the hotels we use expect credit card details when reservations are made (in line with practice at most if not all hotels in the UK). They would also like room lists with the names of the players who will be taking the rooms as early as possible before the weekends (this facilitates checking in procedures) - or failing this, at least reconfirmation before the relevant weekends that the rooms are still required. This will avoid the risk of the hotels letting the rooms go beforehand because they don't have card details to confirm the reservations and no names to allocate to the rooms.

Important notice about bookings - 7th July, 2004

We understand that the telephone systems across the Moat House chain will shortly be changed so that calls made at weekends and outside working hours will be redirected to a central booking area. There is therefore every chance (as confirmed by the various hotels themselves) that any such calls will not be cross-referenced to the 4NCL booking arrangements, with all the attendant problems that will result. In particular, you may not get the specially negotiated 4NCL discount.

The hotels have consequently asked that calls to arrange 4NCL bookings are made during working hours. If a booking is made at weekends/outside working hours, please also place a follow-up call to the hotel during working hours to reconfirm the booking directly with the hotel in question.

The 4NCL are using a new venue in 2004/05, the Nottingham Moat House. N.B. this is NOT the Nottingham Royal Moat House.

The 4NCL have negotiated special room rates at Telford Moat House of Ł50 for twin or double rooms and Ł37 for singles for the 2004/5 season.

We have 120 rooms reserved for each weekend at the Telford Moat House - once this quota is filled, rooms may still be available, but there is no guarantee of this and they are likely to be charged at full rate.

Please note, if you want to take advantage of the cheap room rates, it is best to book with the hotels between 9.00 am and 5.30 pm Monday to Friday. Refer to the 'National Chess League' and quote the agreed rates when booking. Any problems in getting a reduced rate, either refer the person you are talking to to the Customer Sales Managers, Nicola Sheard (Telford), Clarena Gomez (West Bromwich), and Shruti Soni (Nottingham) or alternatively get in touch with Nicola, Clarena or Shruti directly.
