4NCL Newsletter

February 2003

Several issues were resolved at the last Board meeting of the 4NCL and I wanted to share with you the relevant points that arose:

1/ The dates for the 2003/2004 season were finalised - see here.

2/ Following discussion at the Captains' Meeting in January the Board has noted the desire to reduce the 21-day registration period to 14 days. Normally we have had a two-month gap between weekends but this year our Spring weekends follow each other rather quickly. The April weekend follows the March weekend by only about a month and then the early-May weekend comes another month later. Therefore the rule has been changed and the shortened registration period will be effective for the April weekend and thereafter. See here for a copy of the revised rules.

3/ Expansion of the 4th Division next season is a priority and we would be grateful for any publcity that the division can be given. Here is further information about the entry process.

4/ 4th Division arrangements after round 7 are documented here.

The fixtures for the remaining three rounds are as follows with the numbers based upon the league positions after Round 7.

Division 4A
Round 8 - 3 v 1 and 2 v 4
Round 9 - 1 v 4 and 3 v 2
Round 10 - 2 v 1 and 4 v 3

Division 4B
Round 8 - 7 v 5 and 6 v 8
Round 9 - 5 v 8 and 7 v 6
Round 10 - 6 v 5 and 8 v 7

5/ Atheneaum 2 have unfortunately defaulted five boards so far this season, so in accordance with rule 10.3 they have been penalised one match point.

Best wishes,
Paul Littlewood (4NCL Chairman)
